What is High Performance Steel Used For? 

High performance steel is mainly used for the construction of bridges. However, its fibres can be added to concrete for projects that require high-flexural fatigue strength and high-wear resistance. These fibres can be added in the construction of heavy duty floors and roads, and for slope stabilization and precast applications. The fibres added to the concrete increase the tensile strength of the material.

The prime benefit of tungsten in HSS is that the final steel product offers extreme hot hardness. When 10% molybdenum is added to high speed steel, both hot hardness and toughness of the steel multiplies. In fact, these properties are effectively maintained even when HSS is exposed to high temperatures. Vanadium content in HSS increases the wear resistance of the finished tools.
