Galvanized vs PVC coated wire mesh. What are the differences?

When deciding on buying a wire mesh fence, people usually consider various shapes, heights, wire thickness, mesh sizes but also most importantly &#; type of protection against corrosion. If you want to buy your dream fence that will serve you for years, choose a model with an anti-corrosion coating that guarantees durability.

If you are looking for more details, kindly visit our website.

What to pay attention to when choosing a fence?

Longevity is one of the features that every customer buying a new fence should pay attention to. Meanwhile, this topic is often overlooked, because the main emphasis is on the price of the product, ensuring the security of the property or attractive appearance. These are, of course, important factors, but durability must not be forgotten.

Properly prepared mesh will make you forget about the need for frequent maintenance, and the topic of fence replacement due to its wear will not bother you. All you need to do is pay attention to the coating technology.

Galvanization gives greater resistance to corrosion

Galvanized wire mesh is made out of galvanized wire. It has a characteristic metallic coating. It is hot-dip galvanized to protect against corrosion. Such a product is resistant to weather conditions and will not rust. Good quality galvanized mesh will stay in a good condition for many years.

Galvanized fencing mesh is a mesh that undergoes a special treatment and is covered with a zinc layer, which is supposed to withstand the harmful effects of air and water for many years, which is not lacking in the places where the mesh is usually used. It is air and water that later cause corrosion of metal parts. It is also pointed out that the zinc coating has a corrosion resistance even several times greater than non-galvanized steel!

The advantage of galvanized mesh is its availability. Our shop offers galvanized mesh fencing of various heights &#; 1.00m, 1.20m, 1.50m, 1.80m, 2.00m and wire thicknesses &#; 2.5mm, 2.8mm.

Why is it important to use galvanized fencing?

All in all, the galvanized mesh fencing is the standard nowadays. You should decide on an un-galvanized mesh only when you are looking to save some money. Sometimes, however, it is worth spending more money and make sure that the fence will retain its original appearance for many years. If you need even better protection, it is worth choosing PVC-coated mesh fencing.

It is also worth mentioning that all wire mesh available in our store is galvanized. Regardless of whether it is additionally coated with PVC or produced without additional coating.

Advantages of PVC coated wire mesh

PVC coated wire mesh has seemingly ordinary appearance with classic diamond-shaped mesh, which is very resistant to corrosion thanks to the use of the latest coating technology.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is one of the materials that we use in the production of our mesh. It is a molten plastic that is applied to galvanized steel wire. We cover our products with it, thanks to which they are distinguished by excellent durability, and our customers are guaranteed trouble-free use for many years.

The PVC coating is resistant to changes in temperature and humidity. It is a thermoplastic, frost-resistant and ultraviolet UV-resistant layer, so it will still look like new, no matter how cold winter is, how wet autumn is or how hot summer is.

Additionally, it protects the mesh against mechanical damage. An important advantage of the coating is its aesthetic value &#; a clear thick layer looks very elegant.

The PVC coated wire mesh is made out of quite thick wire, which does not deform and gives the fence sufficient rigidity. If you install it on larger diameter poles, it can even support the weight of expansive climbing plants. If you do not decide to plant it with climbing plants, it will provide an unobtrusive background for other plants planted along the fence.

Another advantage of this type of product is the fact that, depending on your preferences, you can buy it in various variants. In our store we have coated mesh that differs mainly in:

  • height &#; 1.00m, 1.20m, 1.50m, 1.80m, 2.00m
  • mesh size &#; 60 mm x 60 mm
  • wire diameter &#; 2,0 mm / 3,2 mm , 2,2 mm / 3,4 mm or 2,5 mm / 3,7 mm
  • color of coating &#; green and brown

Thanks to this, we can adjust the mesh individually to your needs. For that, visit our online store.

Important parameters when choosing the wire mesh fence

Durability

Although galvanized wire mesh is usually cheaper, it doesn&#;t last as long as PVC-coated wire mesh. Thanks to the PVC treatment it has a higher resistance to unfavorable weather conditions. If you live close to areas inhabited by wild animals -near a forest, a PVC-coated mesh will be a much better solution. Galvanized mesh is also less resistant to rust, which over time reduces the strength of the fence.

Price

If you are on a budget, our galvanized wire mesh will be more than enough. If you want something longer lasting, invest in a slightly more expensive PVC-coated wire mesh. It is still relatively cheap compared to other types of fencing, but also extremely durable.

Color

The PVC coating is available in two colors: green and brown. In the case of a standard galvanized mesh, you must be satisfied with its characteristic metallic gloss. It is worth taking this into account when you care about the style of the fence.

Usage

PVC-coated wire mesh is perfect for fencing privet plots of land and properties like houses. Because of the color coating, it has a more aesthetic appearance. For more industrial uses we recommend plain galvanized wire mesh.

Galvanized Mesh

Galvanized Steel Wire Mesh

Galvanized wire mesh is a general purpose metal net with a rust resisting zinc coating protection by electro galvanizing or hot dip galvanizing process. Galvanized meshes offer better corrosion resistance than plain steel mesh products. All galvanized meshes can be double protected with galvanizing and powder coating finishes.

Galvanized Mesh Welded ( Galvanized Before Welded ) is made with pre-galvanized wire welded into mesh rolls or panels.
Welded Mesh GAW (Galvanized After Welded)
is manufactured with carbon steel or mild steel wire welding into grid structure, then the whole mesh panel is hot dip galvanized through a bath of molten zinc.

Galvanized Mesh, Galvanized Before Woven, refers to wire mesh woven of pre-galvanized wire. Galvanized mesh, Galvanized After Woven, refers to woven wire mesh ( plain weave, chain link, twisted or knitted) manufactured with plain steel or carbon steel wire, then the mesh rolls or panels are thoroughly galvanized through hot dipped zinc coating.

Disadvantage and Advantage:
GBW welded wire mesh or woven wire mesh cost less compared with GAW types.
GWB welded mesh or woven mesh has one disadvantage: During the welding or weaving process of the GBW, the galvanizing at the weld or weaving spots, where the wires intersect, may get off. This leaves places in the mesh that have lost the galvanizing protection against rust and corrosion.
Welded mesh or Woven Mesh Galvanized After (GAW) is stronger and durable.  The steel wire mesh rolls / panels, including the welded or woven spots, are thoroughly coated with zinc plating against rust and corrosion.

Wire Mesh Galvanized & Further PVC Coated

Galvanized wire mesh can be further protected by powder coating, known as Powder Coated Wire Mesh or PVC coated mesh. Pvc coated wire mesh is made of mild steel and galvanized steel wire, with pvc or vinyl powder corrosion resisting coating layer. Powder coated mesh is available in rolls and panels, widely used as fencing for garden fencing, aviary mesh as well as animals enclosures.

Choosing Mesh Materials

Galvanized wire mesh welded or woven each has its own character and applications, but they find common applications sometimes, in making partitions, gopher fencing, poultry fencing, gabions mesh material.
Welded wire mesh is mostly used in mesh fabricating, fencing and storage solutions.
Woven wire mesh made of round wire is used in general screening and guarding.
Galvanized wire cloth woven with pre crimped steel wire enjoys added strength and rigidity, suitable to be used as mining screen, machine shielding guards.
Welded mesh and hexagonal woven mesh are commonly used as fences, stucco netting, made into gabions or baskets for soil erosion protection.

Welded Galvanized Mesh and Woven Galvanized Mesh can both be used for Stucco construction.

Stucco netting, also known as Stucco Mesh, is a kind of galvanized mesh supplied in square and hexagonal patterns. Wires usually precrimped to achieve good plastering purpose. Stucco mesh is applied over lath, fabricated from galvanized woven wire fabric or galvanized welded wire fabric. These mesh materials allow the stucco to go into the openings and adhere well to become stronger.

Mesh Gabions for Retaining Wall and Soil Protection:

Gabions and gabion mattresses are wire fabric containers, uniformly partitioned, of variable size, interconnected with other similar containers and filled with stone at the site of use, to form flexible, permeable, monolithic structures such as retaining walls, sea walls, channel linings, revetments and weirs for earth retention. Popularly made of hexagonal mesh and welded mesh.

Specify the product description:
Twisted woven wire mesh is mostly in a hexagon hole, also called Hexagonal mesh. But when a Hex mesh is mentioned, it refers not necessarily twist woven hexagonal nets, it may be Expanded metal with hexagonal hole, or perforated metal with hexagonal opening.
Wire mesh woven or welded in square hole is also called Square Wire Mesh. Hence when a square mesh is mentioned, it can be welded mesh or woven wire cloth.
Both expanded mesh and chain link mesh can be made diamond holes. Heavy precrimped wire woven mesh can also be made with diamond holes. Hence when a diamond mesh is mentioned, it can be either expanded mesh, or chain link wire mesh or woven wire.
Sometimes galv. wire mesh is called by the application, for example, welded mesh is called Poultry Net when used for poultry feeding, hexagonal netting is referred as Chicken wire when it is used for chicken coops or fencing uses.

In order to avoid above confusions and to specify the product, a detail description of wire mesh shall be given when you send your inquiry, including:
