The Clear Codes function allows users to remove all current and stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from a selected control module. This process also erases all temporary ECU information, including freeze frame data. It is essential to ensure the selected system has been thoroughly checked and serviced to avoid losing crucial information before clearing codes.
NOTE: To clear codes, the ignition key must be set to ON with the engine off. Clearing codes does not solve the underlying issue that caused the fault; codes should only be erased after resolving the originating condition(s).
Steps to clear codes:
The Live Data function lets users view real-time Parameter ID (PID) data in both text and plot formats. This feature helps identify good sensor data to compare with faulty data, and also allows the recording of live data from a chosen vehicle electronic control module.
